A Word About A Few Services
Special Needs
The team at Butcher Elder Law works to provide resources for those with special needs and understands that families would like to have a plan of action in place to care for their loved ones. It is important to coordinate all of the legal, financial and special needs care for children with disabilities, now and in the future. Sam can assist you through the process and help you explore options for public assistance benefits for individuals with disabilities. These benefits may include Medicaid, Medicaid Home and more.
Veterans Benefits
If you or your spouse are a veteran who served at least 90 days of active service, of which one day was during wartime, such as in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War and other conflicts, you may be eligible for benefits of up to $2,054.00 per month to help pay medical expenses. If you are a surviving spouse of a veteran, you may be eligible for benefits of up to $1,114.00 per month. These benefits do not require you to be in a nursing home or long-term care facility.
Medicaid Planning And Qualification
Medicaid planning involves some difficult conversations around the possibility of you, your spouse or your love ones needing long-term care in an assisted living facility. It is vital to plan ahead and map out how you could become eligible for Medicaid to cover the high cost of that type of care. The Medicaid system is a maze of complex rules and special exceptions that are unique and inconsistent with other areas of the law. The application process can be overwhelming for the family member assisting the Medicaid process.
Comprehensive Estate Planning
Attorney Sam Butcher counsels clients on the identification, design and execution of individual client estate plans. His comprehensive estate planning services include handling all matters regarding financial powers of attorney, health care powers of attorney, living will, wills, revocable and irrevocable living trusts. Creating an estate plan or updating an existing estate plan is important for everyone and is not limited to old folks with multiple real estate holdings. Sam helps the young, old and everyone in between from all walks of life. He can even help you create or update an estate plan to incorporate caring for your precious pets if you suddenly become incapacitated and after you are gone.
Asset Protection
Asset protection planning can help you safeguard your home, savings accounts and other valuable assets that could be subject to lawsuits, government overreach, long-term care institutions, divorce, bankruptcy and other circumstances. There are two components to consider in asset protection planning. The first is to consider what types of protection you will need while you are alive if you are suddenly incapacitated, disabled or become incompetent. The second is to consider safeguarding your assets for distribution according to your wishes after your death.
